Accessibility Statement

Extended Essay Dashboard is being developed to be usable by students, supervisors and coordinators with a wide range of access needs. We treat accessibility as an ongoing product requirement rather than a one-off certification exercise.

Current status

A source-level accessibility audit has been completed using dedicated JSX accessibility rules that recognise the application's custom form components. The accessibility audit, normal application lint and production build currently pass. This is useful engineering evidence, but it is not the same as independent WCAG conformance testing.

We are therefore not claiming full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance at this stage. Manual keyboard, zoom, contrast and assistive-technology testing remains part of the release and procurement evidence programme.

Accessibility controls already implemented

Semantic controls and keyboard-operable interactive elements across audited application screens.

Programmatically associated labels for audited form controls, including custom inputs, text areas and selects.

Meaningful alternative text for informative images and decorative treatment where visual content does not add meaning.

No positive tabindex ordering and no forced autofocus on authentication or registration flows.

Reviewed text transcripts are available alongside approved meeting audio recordings; the private raw staff transcript remains restricted.

Role and status information is not intended to rely on colour alone.

Responsive layouts are designed to support desktop, tablet and mobile use without requiring a separate student interface.

Animation and transition effects respect the operating system’s reduced-motion preference across both Framer Motion and CSS-driven effects.

Keyboard and focus

Interactive controls use native or accessible component patterns. Automated checks currently report no positive tab order and no forced autofocus in audited application code.

Meeting audio

Approved meeting recordings have a reviewed student-visible text transcript as their accessible alternative. Private staff-only transcript and AI-draft fields remain access controlled.

Visual presentation

Responsive layouts and text-first status labels are used throughout the product. Manual contrast and high-zoom verification remains in the test programme.

School content

Schools may upload their own guidance and resources. The school remains responsible for the accessibility of third-party or school-authored materials it chooses to provide through the platform.

Manual verification still required

The following work is tracked before we would make a broader conformance claim:

  • •Complete keyboard-only navigation through each role and high-use workflow.
  • •VoiceOver testing on iOS/macOS and NVDA or equivalent screen-reader testing on Windows.
  • •200% and 400% zoom/reflow verification across representative student, supervisor and coordinator workflows.
  • •Colour-contrast verification for all interactive states, charts and status indicators.
  • •Touch-target and orientation testing on supported mobile devices.
  • •Accessibility review of generated/downloaded documents and any third-party content supplied by a school.

Report an accessibility barrier

If you encounter an accessibility problem in Extended Essay Dashboard, please tell us what you were trying to do, the page or workflow involved, and the assistive technology or device you were using where relevant.
